The Editorial

Mutual Heritage develops some instruments and competences able to facilitate the integration of recent heritage into the daily active life.
Integration is the best solution to improve a process of territorial development attentive to local population, to the global sustainability of historical inheritance and to enhance the protection of cultural heritage. Mutual and recent heritage dating from the 19° and 20° centuries needs to be recognised and preserved as a main feature of the multi-faceted Mediterranean identity. By Romeo Carabelli

Genral description: The first training course intended to give a general conceptual framework for Mutual Heritage studies in conservation. In particular, it was aimed at introducing the general issues related to architectural and urban heritage, considered as an important asset to foster sustainable development processes in European and Mediterranean countries.

It was organised during five days, of approximately eight hours each day, divided in two parts: class lessons and on site activities. The sixth, optional, day was dedicated to a guided visit to Casablanca directed by Casamemoire Association.

The trainees were selected by the host partner as well as by the other partners. For the most part, they were from Morocco.

The teachers were local and international. Some of them followed the trainees both for the class lessons and for the hands-on activities.

At the beginning of the training course, the trainees received a CD with some documents like articles, essays, maps, town-plans, photos and other materials concerning the colonial
heritage in Maghreb and some general information about Morocco and Fès.

At the end of the course, a certificate of participation was given out by the ENA to all the
participants.
